iPod advertising

So, the TV advertising campaign for the Apple iPod featuring the dark dancing silhouettes against the bright-coloured backgrounds… On the TV commercial they’re backed up by beat-music with them holding an iPod and listening to music with Apple earphones. I think Apple changes the style of the advertisements depending on the song’s theme or genre to show that the iPod is versatile, modern, has lots of different applications and with the range of colours there is one to suit every type of consumer. I think the advertising campaign is trying to achieve a creative approach to the ‘bog standard’ MP3 player and it is an unusual campaign because it places the consumer as the silhouette and tries to show them the opportunities of buying an iPod. Overall I think it is innovative as it’s showing the iPod as a trendy piece of technology which doesn’t rely on communicating price in order to sell – so it just shows how a campaign can still be a success by relying on your brand image, product awareness and reputation.
